I am the lead organizer for a tech conference that will be taking place on the NCSU Centennial Campus. I realize, unfortunately, this date conflicts with the Minute Man Marathon, however, I would still like to share the info. This is an excellent opportunity for any techies out there to meet and socialize with the digerati of the Research Triangle. Many of the attendees are software engineers, web and software developers, and system administrators. The event information is located at http://trilug.org/barcamp/
How it works: BarCampRDU is an “unconference” which means there is not a rigid schedule until everyone arrives. Everyone has an opportunity to pitch a topic they would like to present or talk about. Topics are recorded on paper and posted where everyone can see and vote. The most popular topics/speakers are placed at the beginning of the day.
Many of the attendees and topics are tech and open source software related, but do not have to be. BarCampRDU is an event that is driven by the attendees! You will likely find sessions on how to juggle or even play guitar! Most of all BarCampRDU is meant to be fun and focused on socializing with other folks who have similar interests.
The event is free to include food. Parking is at the RedHat headquarters on the NCSU Centennial Campus, 1801 Varsity Dr, Raleigh NC. The event will take place at NCSU Engineering Building 2.
Coffee, bagels, donuts, and socializing goes from 8am-9am. Session pitches begin 9am. Lunch will be held in the RedHat building. If you plan to attend, be sure to sign up so we can plan accordingly for food.
