YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION IS REQUIRED:
Every member of the North Carolina National Guard Association is needed to call, write or email your Senators and Representative concerning the effects of the Governement Shutdown on the North Carolina National Guard.
Please inform our Federal Senators and Representatives that this shutdown has adversely effected our Soldiers and Airmen ability to maintain our readiness in three ways:
1) It prevents us from conducting Inactive Duty Training (a.k.a. Drill) and Annual Training; all are aimed at maintaining readiness.
2) It limits the numbers of schools and training events we are allowed to conduct; all are critical to maintaining our readiness.
3) Even with the return of many Federal Technicians, we still have full-time employees that were not allowed to return to work. Also, no additional Soldiers are allowed to conduct Active Duty for Special Work or Active Duty for Operational Support missions. All of which continue to severly limit our ability to conduct normal operations.
Perhaps most importantly, the inability to conduct inactive duty training and annual training presents huge finanical problems for our Soldiers and Airmen that depend on the pay to cover their household expenses. Many of whom use their drill pay to cover such critical items as health insurance through Tri-Care Reserve Select, Tri-Care Dental, and Life Insurance policies.
Thank you for your continued support to our Assocation and the Members of the North Carolina National Guard.
