Scholarship Information

Scholarships are available to active and associate members of the North Carolina National Guard Association and to the spouses, children, grandchildren and legal dependents of active, associate or deceased members. Students attending colleges, universities or technical/community colleges are eligible to apply.

All applicants are evaluated individually and competitively on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, leadership and citizenship, and other application information.

Scholarships are granted annually in varying amounts depending on the available funds and are paid directly to the school. These funds can be applied only to tuition, books and fees and cannot be disbursed directly to the student.

Updated scholarship applications are available in November each year and may be obtained from the NCNGA Educational Foundation office or from local National Guard units. One application is used to apply for all scholarships, and only current applications will be accepted.

2011 Scholarship Recipients

Scholarship Programs

The Foundation is responsible for the management and administration of General and Special/Memorial Scholarships.

Recipients of General Scholarships and Special/Memorial Scholarships must meet selection criteria established by the Foundation. Recipients of Special/Memorial Scholarships may also be required to meet other specific criteria established by the benefactors.

You Can Help

You can be an important part of the continued success of the NCNGA Educational Foundation. Contributions are a valuable source of funding for the Scholarship Program. All donations are applied to the General Fund, a Special/Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Endowment Fund. Your contribution may be applied to the scholarship of your choice. By giving a gift in memory or in honor of an individual, your contribution can be a lasting memorial or tribute. Acknowledgements are promptly made to the family or individual of your choice. Individuals, families or groups can also establish Special/Memorial Scholarships within this Foundation. Please contact the Foundation office for further information.

The Foundation sponsors an annual statewide fund-raising campaign. Fund-raising events are also held by National Guard units, auxiliaries and chapters. Special events are excellent opportunities to get involved in raising funds for the Foundation.

Your support of the NCNGA Educational Foundation helps students reach their educational goals. The amount of money the Foundation awards in scholarships each year is in direct proportion to the amount of money received from contributions and fund-raising events.
