In 1974, the North Carolina National Guard Association Ladies Auxiliary was voted into existence and was the first organization of its kind in the United States. The Auxiliary obtained a chartered from the State of North Carolina on May 7, 1980. In 1988, the Auxiliary changed its name to the North Carolina National Guard Association Auxiliary (NCNGA Auxiliary).
The Auxiliary is governed by an elected Board of Directors and is comprised of the following: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter Historian, Immediate Past President and Chaplain. The officers, with the exception of the Immediate Past President and Chaplain, are elected by the membership at the annual meeting. The Chaplain is appointed by the President.
Our goal is to promote an understanding, cooperation, friendship and association among the families of the North Carolina National Guard members.
The NCNGA Auxiliary, an auxiliary to the North Carolina National Guard Association, supports the NCNGA Educational Foundation, Inc., the North Carolina Military Historical Society, EANGUS Auxiliary, the National Guard Family Program and the National Guard Military Center in attaining their goals and objectives plus providing support and fellowship.
The membership of the Auxiliary is composed of spouses and parents of life, active, retired and deceased members of the North Carolina National Guard Association. Any citizen who had rendered favorable service to the NCNGA and/or the Auxiliary shall be eligible for election to honorary membership.
The NCNGA Auxiliary Scholarship was established in 1988. The NCNGA Auxiliary Scholarship was renamed the Dorothy Ledbetter Memorial Scholarship in 1994.
The Board of Directors approved the establishment of the Lucille Webster Stalls Memorial Teachers Scholarship at their March 2007 meeting.
Contribution received from individuals and groups along with their support of the fund-raising projects are important in funding these two scholarships. The funds are applied to tuition and fees only and are paid directly to the learning institution. The funds of these scholarships are administered by the NCNGA Educational Foundation, Inc. and should be contacted for applications. The contact number is 800-821-6159, extension 5.
Recipients of these scholarships must meet the criteria as set forth in the scholarship and NCNGA Educational Foundation, Inc. application and be a spouse, Guard member, or a dependent of someone who has served in the North Carolina Army or Air National Guard.
By being a member of the Auxiliary, you are entitled to all benefits of the North Carolina National Guard Association. These benefits include discount admission cards to various theme parks, car rental agencies, membership in the State Employees Credit Union and scholarships available to you and your dependents from the Association’s Educational Foundation. You and your guest may attend and participate in the annual convention of the North Carolina National Guard Association. The Auxiliary encourages participation in letter writing campaigns for legislation to benefit active and retired Guard members.
