Auxiliary
HISTORY
In 1974, the North Carolina National Guard Association Ladies Auxiliary was voted into existence and was the first organization of its kind in the United States. The Auxiliary obtained a chartered from the State of North Carolina on May 7, 1980. In 1988, the Auxiliary changed its name to the North Carolina National Guard Association Auxiliary (NCNGA Auxiliary).
The Auxiliary is governed by an elected Board of Directors and is comprised of the following: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter Historian, Immediate Past President and Chaplain. The officers, with the exception of the Immediate Past President and Chaplain, are elected by the membership at the annual meeting. The Chaplain is appointed by the President.

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The NCNGA Auxiliary Scholarship was established in 1988. The NCNGA Auxiliary Scholarship was renamed the Dorothy Ledbetter Memorial Scholarship in 1994.
The Board of Directors approved the establishment of the Lucille Webster Stalls Memorial Teachers Scholarship at their March 2007 meeting.
Contribution received from individuals and groups along with their support of the fund-raising projects are important in funding these two scholarships. The funds are applied to tuition and fees only and are paid directly to the learning institution. The funds of these scholarships are administered by the NCNGA Educational Foundation, Inc. and should be contacted for applications. The contact number is 800-821-6159, extension 5.
Recipients of these scholarships must meet the criteria as set forth in the scholarship and NCNGA Educational Foundation, Inc. application and be a spouse, Guard member, or a dependent of someone who has served in the North Carolina Army or Air National Guard.
