As one of the largest military advocacy organizations, we work to transform our members’ ideas into legislative action and provide states and our members unified representation before members of Congress. Our efforts begin with an annual resolutions process that originates with our state associations. Member delegates at the annual NGAUS General Conference debate and approve resolutions. The resulting legislative priorities become a blueprint for NGAUS initiatives and member action.
The 45,000 members of NGAUS influence national legislation that affects the 465,000 members of the National Guard, their families and employers, as well as Guard retirees. We are not alone in the effort, working closely with state associations, the Adjutants General Association of the United States, the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States and others to ensure the National Guard remains the nation’s premier force at home and abroad
