Free Family Child Care training. The goal of this DoD grant initiative is to increase quality child care options for military families, in addition to providing employment opportunities for military spouses. The Cooperative Extension is hosting Family Child Care: Getting Started classes in Carteret (7 Nov), Harnett (8 Nov), Guilford (9 Nov) and Buncombe (10 Nov) counties. The class is from 9:00-2:30. We are really interested in increasing licensed family child care to serve military families. Registration is waived for interested FCC providers in Jones, Carteret, Harnett, Wake, Guilford, Forsyth and Buncombe counties. Training materials and lunch will be provided. For participants from other counties the fee is $10. This training will focus on the key points to think about before opening a family child care home, including personal considerations, state regulations and business aspects of this occupation. Join the COPE Foundation and the Military and Veterans Resource Coalition at Tribeca Tavern at Falls of the Neuse for food and drinks on Monday November 14. Tribeca Tavern will donate 10% of their November 14 proceeds to the COPE/MVRC emergency fund to assist local military service members, veterans and their families. Help us support our military and veterans in times of unexpected need or crisis by purchasing meals or drinks at Tribeca Tavern, 6004 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh (between Millbrook and Spring Forest Roads). The tavern is open on November 14 from 11 am to 11 pm. Put us on your calendar. Sure, I know you veterans can get a free meal at Golden Corral that evening. So stop by Tribeca Tavern for a light lunch to warm up before hitting the buffet line at GC that evening. Heck, you’re getting a free dinner.
